FAIRY TALE or FAIRY FAIL?

Saturday January 23, 2010, FINAL PHAZE Dance Troupe, Directed by Reese Dilla, presented their Annual FAIRY TALE Dance competition. ONCE AGAIN! 2010 is not starting off good people.

Doors opened at 6pm and according to the ticket the show was to start at 7:30 Sharp.... But that was NOT the case! This show started an hour and a half late. The crowd was restless and even the judges became impatient ( They held up signs giving Reese a score of ZERO) (it was all in fun I believe it was). But, Finally the show got going or so we thought! 3D's CD ran into some trouble and the crowd found themselves in a 30 minute wait for the show to restart!

IN THE MEAN TIME... Reese Presented DARNELL PAYNE, Founder of U-PHI-U (The Original Hip Hop Dance Team of Chicago [1984-1993]), with the Final Phaze Dance Team Humanitarian of the Year AWARD! AS Very nice offering to a LEGEND of the Chicago Dance Industry.

There were only 3 competing teams and 1 special guest team and final Phaze that performed. WHY DID THIS SHOW TAKE SOOOOO LONG TO GET STARTED? hmmmm????

1st Annual Unity Showcase : The EMPIRE Debut

Friday Jan. 22, 2010 was the debut of the long awaited EMPIRE, Directed by LaTisha Waters. While the Crowd wasn't as large as expected the energy was good. With a SPECIAL PRESENTATION BY: COTY and DON in recognition of SEAN and also special performances by: 3D(AA), DYNASTY,IC,GEEK SQUAD,GOON SQUAD, CYDC,FATAL ATTRACTION,&ABC....EVERYBODY was filled with anticipation.The anticipation was sky high because the show started very late. In addition, to all of our surprise.... In the middle of CYDC's Performance , a fight broke out. #SMH. This should not have been the case seeing that this was "UNITY" Showcase as well as a dedication to Sean. Be Respectful and Responsible people!

ACME would like to send out best wishes for next years Unity Showcase. This was not the start of 2010 that Chicago was really looking for. Next Month at the all Boys/Girls Dance Down I hope the review from ACME will be much better!

America's Best Dance Crew (Season 5) - MTV Shows

The new season premieres Thursday January 28th @ 10/9c

This season 15 teams are set to battle for the title of America's Best Dance Crew, but compared to the last four seasons, a few changes have been made. This season Mario Lopez returns as the host along with JC Chasez & Lil Mama as judges. Replacing Shane Sparks will be R&B Singer Omarion.

This season begins with three regional casting specials. Each week, five crews will go head-to-head, with only three making it out of their respective region (East, South, and West). Starting with episode four, the remaining nine crews will show what they're made of. Each week, one crew will be eliminated until only the best remain.

Where oh where is the talent in Chicago? Is there anyone in Chicago that can honestly be considered as the best dancer, choreographer, etc.? FEETDCo: Premiere Dance Coalition

Deadly Coalition? FEETDCo? Could the rumors be true? The answer is....... YES! FEETDCo has acquired Deadly Coalition, awarded 2006 Group of the Year & 1st place winners of House Arrest 2's March Madness 3 years in a row. DC is now Premiere "D"ance "C"oalition-The Movement within the FEETDCo Conglomerate! Congratulations to Lakeisha Morgan for her recent promotion to Principal Company Officer. Morgan will head PDC. This acquisition by FEETDCo has now moved the FEETDCo name to the south side of Chicago which could mean big things are to come!

Versatile's Fav Five competition
Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Portage Theater 7PM sharp 4050 N Milwaukee Chicago, IL

This competition only allows 5 dancers to be on stage. A team has the creative liberty to work those five dancers in any format. During the five minute presentation, teams can utilize one dancer, two, and so forth at a time, but no more than the five registered dancers are allowed on stage. So for instance, you cannot use a sixth person for a skit, or to hold up a prop. ONLY THE FIVE PERFORMERS ARE ALLOWED ON STAGE! Your team will be disqualified if this rule is not adhered to.
